Media Man reviews was created was for 2 reasons:
- My love and passion for video games, anime and movies
- To help parents and more sensitive gamers to decide if a game is right for them or their children.
Every review will include a standard review of gameplay, visuals, story, etc. and will also include a family friendliness score. I always hated when someone would say that a game was poor quality because it had blood, language or some other mature content. The quality of the game doesn’t necessarily relate to the maturity level. A game can be of high quality, but not right for you or your family. For example, look at a game like Grand Theft Auto V. It was a very well done, quality game. Personally, I would rather spend time on a Zelda or scifi/fantasy game, which is more my genre. However, Grand Theft Auto V would still get a 10. Why? I separate the quality of the game from whether or not it’s one I would personally want to get lost in. Though well written, I didn’t care for the characters and to me that’s a big deal. That’s not a flaw in the game, however. It’s my personality and preference.
One of my favorite games is Red Dead Redemption, which is also done by Rockstar. I loved the setting and characters, so it is also a 10. In other words, I don’t feel it would be fair to rate a game lower than it deserves just because its not for me.
I also try to avoid spoilers in all my reviews because I believe in letting people experience the game for themselves. I love the twists and turns of a well written game or movie. I love not knowing what to expect. If you do want spoilers then you could PM me and I will give them to you. Most of all, I want Media Man Reviews to grow with you. If there is something you want to see, let me know. I will do what I can to make it happen.
